 Design Overview::

Qualite Sports lighting is customized for your individual needs. Every application is sized to your specific requirements. General considerations include the need for HID( High intensity discharge) lamps that exhibit long life and high luminous efficiency to provide years of trouble free maintenance and energy savings. Special design considerations include quartz restrike systems, emergency lighting, and High-low HID switching for energy savings.

Luminaire designs featuring glare and spill light control, as well as any add-on features must be considered during the design process. Such features include visors, internal and external louvers and lamp shields. There are eight(8) specific requirements for every project.

  1. Field Area - Every field consistes of a Boundary, primary playing area and some( like tennis) have a secondary playing area. Each type of area must be illuminated differently.
  2. Ballast Requirements - All HID lamps must rated together with their corresponding ballast for optimal performance.
  3. Effective Projected Area (EPA) - The luminaires shape and dimensional size are necessary for calculating the structural strength of the pole. This calculation factors wind loading, and other environmental factors.
  4. Lamp Tilt factor - The lumen output of all HID lamps are sensitive to lamp operating position. The loss of lumen output can be as high as 15% for certain lamps.
  5. Spill Light Control - Light shining beyond the sports facility by uncontrolled direct light components.
  6. Glare - is difficulty seeing in the presence of bright light such as direct or reflected light from the flood light.
  7. Pole Height - is key to providing optimum lighting on the field and minimizing glare and spill light.
  8. Beam Spread - The beam spread ( definded by IESNA/NEMA designation) of each floodlight should be selected to put the maximum amount of light on the field without producing a hot spot. The beam should be wide enough to overlap the distribution from adjacent aiming points ( See diagram below).
